Disease Outbreak Kills Over 15 People in Kafanchan, Kaduna State; Schools Shutdown

 



A strange disease has reportedly killed more than 15 residents of Kafanchan, Jema’a Local Government Area, Kaduna State in the early hours of Thursday, July 20th, 2023.


It is alleged that there is some sort of sickness in the town with the name “Corynebacterium diphtheriae.” And it has been reported that the disease has spread everywhere, and that the General Hospital, Kafanchan is currently filled up with surplus patients.


A staff with the General Hospital, Kafanchan, who pleaded for anonymity disclosed that about 15 people have already died from the disease just within a few hours.


Similarly, a teacher at the Government Girls Junior Secondary School (GGJSS), Kafanchan, told this news medium that a student in the school complained of a soar throat and later passed on.


It has also been reported that schools within the town have equally shutdown in order to curtail the spread of the disease.


Meanwhile, the Executive Chairman of Jema’a LGA, Hon. Yunana Markus Barde visited some of the victims in the hospital and called for urgent medical attention on them.


Report has it that some of the symptoms of the disease include soar throat and inability to eat. Consequently, residents have been advised to use nose-masks and hand sanitizers, so as to avoid contamination.
